Sheryl is a practitioner in the BASI method. She was introduced to Pilates shortly after completing her degree in humanities and after suffering a back injury, she became diligent in the practice. The outcome was a strong and stable body that could move freely without pain. A true passion for Pilates was born and becoming a teacher was the natural next step on her journey. A keen interest in psychology and a love for fitness make Sheryl a compassionate mentor of the discipline.
She studied under the South African Body Arts and Science International Principal Instructor, Theo Botha and has been teaching, as well as learning the discipline since 2002. She has also had the benefit of taking workshops with internationally recognized names in the Pilates industry such a Cara Reeser and has studied advanced Pilates with Rael Isacowitz. Although never losing touch with the importance of the foundational repertoire, she holds basic Pilates dear.
Outside of Pilates Sheryl lives an active lifestyle with her partner. She enjoys mountain biking, gym and walking her dog. She loves cooking too and can be found producing delicious feasts for her large family most weekends. Sheryl continues to take workshops and attend courses to further her knowledge as well as to keep up to date with the latest thinking on movement.
